What a super sucky Halloween it was. I was so excited for my first "real" story time. It didn't matter that the person over me at the library hadn't responded to my emails. It didn't matter that my online mentor from the American Library Association hadn't responded to me in over two weeks. It didn't matter that I got the flu shot and now I'm sick. I was going to do a story time!And a Halloween one at that.

*sobs*

It was horrible. The person over me didn't even BOTHER to set aside the meeting room for me like she said she would. Instead she booked some man to come in to talk about how to make your resume look good after you had been incarcerated, but in particular when you had been in trouble for rape, murder, and child abuse! Yes, let's have a story time with the pedophiles waiting for us to leave the room! But wait! It gets better. She promised me that she would put up fliers about it. I made them and emailed them to her. Yea, you guessed it. She didn't put up any of them- so no one knew about it. I'm talking - not even the other librarians knew about it! *bangs head against wall*

I like being at the library. I even enjoy being around one of the workers. But I don't like the rest.

Did I mention that apparently they've been telling the head lady that "we've been trying to teach her about the computer but she's so slow."

EXCUSE ME?! NO ONE HAS BOTHERED TO FUCKING TRY TO TEACH ME JACK SHIT. I'VE ASKED FOR YOU GUYS TO SHOW ME AND YOU DON'T. INSTEAD YOU TELL ME TO SHELF FUCKING BOOKS - WHICH I DO WITHOUT COMPLAINT (UNTIL NOW). I THOUGHT NO ONE WAS DOING CHILDREN'S AND I FOUND OUT THAT EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE FUCKTARDS HAS ONE SHELF. THAT'S IT - ONE SHELF IN KIDS - AND NO ONE EVER SHELVES EXCEPT THAT ONE LADY. AND NOW I FIND OUT THAT THEY AREN'T EVEN SHELVING THE REST OF THE LIBRARY BECAUSE THEY EXPECT ME TO SHELVE THAT AS WELL? FUCK THEM! FUCK THEM WITH A FUCKING FLAMING CHAINSAW UP THE ASS AS IT SPITS ACID INSIDE OF THEM!!

*cough* sorry - I'm a tiny bit upset.

Anyhow I am proud of what I did. I did NOT cry (I'm a cry baby). Instead I stayed for three hours after I was supposed to (storytime) then said that since I was feeling sick that I was leaving early. I left the majority of the books on the cart (except for the nice lady) that way they would have to shelve their own shit. Then I drove home crying- grabbed my puppy and used him as a kleenex.

Teddy: I almost drowned in tears!

This is just a minor set back! I WILL turn this library around even though they aren't paying me and it's not mine. I WILL get a month(to start off with) story time going. I WILL make the library more user friendly( most particular more children friendly)! I've even started doing it. I bought some cheap $1 puzzles and wooden games and put them in the children's section. I WILL PREVAIL!
